Sweet Tomatoes will donate 15% of the event proceeds back to the Coyotes Skating

invite everyone to take a break from the holiday rush, enjoy a great meal, and
benefit the club at the same time! Your support is greatly appreciated and we
hope to see you there!!
Thank you to all the club members who helped make this event a success. Without the

prior year. Denae Raught placed 5th in Novice Extemporaneous and also competed in Novice Dramatic.
Liana Sherman placed 3rd in both Juvenile Light and Juvenile Dramatic. Tianna Raught placed 3rd
in Pre-Juvenile Extemporaneous and also competed in Pre-Juvenile Light. Alexandra Fardelos placed
5th in Pre-Juvenile Light B and also performed in a Duet with SC Phoenix member Katherine Nichols.
Katy Krupinsky placed 3rd in Preliminary Dramatic A, 4th in the Final and also competed in Preliminary
Extemporaneous. Congrats to all! For more on this purely artistic competition, visit

The Coyotes Synchronized Skating Team and Coyotes Ice Ensemble are currently looking for
new members. If you are looking for a place to share your love of the sport and create
wonderful friendships, be sure and visit with the teams during their free clinic on
Saturday, August 9th. An on-ice session will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 PM with a parent
informational meeting from 4:30 to 5:00 PM. Skaters interested in the Synchronized Team
must have passed Basic Skills FreeSkate Level 1 to participate. Coyotes Ice Ensemble
members are required, at a minimum, to have passed the USFS Pre-Preliminary MIF test or
Adult Pre-Bronze MIF test. Please email CoyotesSynchro@cox.net
or CoyotesIceEnsemble@cox.net to attend the clinic.
Team on-ice rehearsals begin September 3rd and are held on alternating Wednesdays
from 5:30 - 6:15 PM. Click here for more information about the clinic.
Event schedule (new!) and group listings have been posted for USFS and Basic Skills events. Please visit
the
Cactus Classic page to check them out.
The Coyotes Ice Ensemble is off to Burlington, Vermont, for the 2008 National/International
Theatre on Ice competition June 27 – 29. Following a final preparatory exhibition at 4:45 pm,
Saturday, June 21, we will be holding a send-off for the team at the Alltel Ice Den.
Please join us Saturday to support the team and wish them good luck!
Each May at US Figure Skating’s Governing Council meeting, delegates from all
Clubs meet to vote on changes to the rules of figure skating. Most of this
year’s changes will go into effect September 1, but a few are effective immediately.
To see which ones might affect you, check out the
Combined Report of Action on the US
Figure Skating web site.
Not many people reach the rank of National Judge, and fewer still gain this
distinction while pursuing medical school and a pre-residency research
appointment. Congratulations to Brook for his recent promotion to National
Judge in singles and pairs. We look forward to seeing him on judging panels
at Nationals for many years to come. In July, he will be moving to New York
to begin his residency in pediatric dermatology at NYU. We wish him good
luck on this new venture.
We hope you will join us for the 2008 Cactus Classic competition, July 18 – 20,
at the Alltel Ice Den in Scottsdale, AZ. US Figure Skating and Basic Skills
events will be offered for all levels of skaters. Entries are due June 2. Visit our
Cactus Classic page and download
the complete announcement and entry forms.
Our good friend, club member, and skating parent Russ Kuhn passed away this past
weekend following a tough illness. In addition to wife, Barbara, and skating
daughter Maddie, Russ leaves three sons, Brenton, Bradley, and Todd. Services
will be held Monday, April 14, at 10 am at the St. Patrick Church,
10815 N. 84th St, Scottsdale. Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 5 – 8 pm,
at the Wessinger Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, with lunch following
the services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends who wish to
contribute do so to Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation in Russ’s memory.
Congratulations to Shayna Moellenberg for finishing 4th in Novice Ladies at the
Gletscher Cup competition in Grindelwald, Switzerland, March 14 – 16, 2008!
Club members Chelsi Guillen and Danny Curzon placed 10th out of 20 teams in the pairs events at
the 2008 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, February 25 – March 2.
Each of their two programs scored a “season’s best” among their international outings
this season. Chelsi and Danny are happy to have represented the Club, Arizona,
and the U.S. this year and are grateful for everyone’s support. Kudos to them and
also to Jill Kinsley for her never-ending send-off posters and enthusiasm!
The Coyotes Ice Ensemble will be holding its "Annual Used Dress/Equipment Sale"
on February 26th, 28th, 29th and March 1st. This sale will be promoted to the
Alltel "Learn to Skate" classes. The team will be gathering inventory beginning
February 18th. It's a great time to clear out those closets and recoup a few dollars!

local training mates Tiffany Vise and Derek Trent won the pewter medal in Senior Pairs and were
named to the Four Continents Championships team as well as first alternate to the World Team.
