Adult Skater Profile

Name: Lyn McLaren
Skated Since: 1998
Competition Level: Ryan hasn’t persuaded me to compete beyond “skate with your coach”! I competed back in England, and the only trophy I would qualify for is the “shaking with nerves” trophy.
Highest Tests Passed: Silver dance
Coach: Ryan O'Meara
Major Accomplishments: Taking all my dance tests up to silver in 12 months
Family: Husband, Mark, and two teenage children, Kate & Iain. I only started skating when I was bored watching my daughter skate. I got on the ice with my 5 year old son (at the time), and discovered I could skate. My son quit skating before he was 7 and my daughter quit skating in 2005, to take up golf.
Occupation: IT Coordinator at a K-8 school
Quote: “My husband does not understand when I come back from skating and complain that the ice was hard today. To him, all ice is hard (and cold). Skating is very addictive, and my husband is very supportive. He does not even complain when the alarm clock goes off at 3.45 am, so I can be at the rink for 5am.”
